Beastie C is the absolute boy

From Agrentina’s ABYSS netlabel to MATRACA’s Lima Footwork compilation, last year saw Juke taking a firm foot(work)hold in South America. One of the best examples of this increasing spread was captured on the second volume of Juke MX’s Traxmex comp, which brought together a limber mix of artists from Xalapa’s Eric Uh to Veracruz’s Ma Fuego.

One of the most killer offerings on Traxmex was the sparkling ‘Ártico’ by Beastie C (above), a producer from Tula, Hidalgo (just north of Mexico City). His talents range beyond footwork though; in November a collaborative release with one of Morelia’s finest rappers also appeared in the form of the eponymous Ace Hitter & Beastie C EP. Released on audacious Mexican hip-hop label OSUK MX and the producer’s own Raccoonin Records, the blend of bassy beats and Ace Hitter’s rapid-fire bars make for a devastating combo. Whatever he turns his mind to, it’s clear this beatmaking Beastie is the absolute boy…
