Hey kids, it’s time to listen to Copenhagen’s Molina

Denmark Denmark

Copenhagen synthpop specialist Rebecca Molina is the latest signing to the superbly named Tambourhinoceros, a Danish indie label that has released records by the likes of Efterklang, IRAH and Palace Winter among others. Having released a debut EP called Corpus last spring on No3 Records, Molina has recently resurfaced with a track that suggests that its follow-up could be very special indeed.

Built around giddily rolling synth arpeggios and a pretty much perfect chorus, the sun-kissed, spaced-out ‘Hey Kids’ recalls artists such as Metronomy, Midnight Juggernauts and Toro y Moi. The well-timed appearance of Swedish singer Late Verlane adds another layer, setting a scene of “luminous hours” spent on a plastic beach with “freaky company”. Sounds like where want to be quite frankly. Pick up ‘Hey Kids’ here and look out for more Molina on the way soon…
